We depart at 8 am from your riad or hotel to journey to Essaouira, known as one of Morocco's most romantic cities. Dating back to the 7th century, Essaouira has a rich history. Initially settled by Phoenicians, it became a Portuguese enclave in the 15th century, strategically positioned for military control. However, its current layout owes much to Sultan Sidi Mohammed Abd Allah of the Alaouite dynasty, who commissioned French urban planner T. Cornut to design a city with European-style streets and fortifications. This blend of European and Moroccan architecture creates a unique ambiance. Essaouira's allure has attracted diverse communities over time, including English and American hippies who helped promote the city, notably the legendary guitarist Jimy Hendrix. This era also saw the rise of a distinct artistic style, influenced by Gnawa music's mesmerizing rhythms, considered healing and transformative. Essaouira, often called "the sleeping beauty," awaits rediscovery, offering a blend of history, culture, and artistic inspiration.

After breakfast, we'll pick you up from your riad in Marrakech and head to Casablanca, Morocco's economic capital. Originally named Dar-al-Beida in Arabic, it traces its name back to Portuguese origins after an earthquake destroyed the nearby settlement of Casa Branca in 1770. Later, the Spanish established a port and named the town Casablanca. Despite its relatively recent history, it has grown rapidly, with its population reaching over four million today. In Casablanca, tourists are drawn to the cityscape crafted by French architects between 1912 and 1940, including the expansive Arab League Park. Notable sights include the grand Hassan II Mosque by the sea, notable for its laser beam indicating the direction to Mecca. This mosque is among the few open to non-Muslims in Morocco. Non-Muslims can visit except during prayer times. Exploring the nearby beaches and cliffs is recommended, along with indulging in the excellent fish cuisine the city offers. Afterward, we'll return to Marrakech, concluding our service by dropping you off at your riad/hotel.
